Justin (Mel's brother) arrived safely on Saturday and after a smashing BBQ we headed back down the Milford Road to show him Milford Sound.
We took a scenic cruise on the fiord with not a cloud in the sky. We are in the 3rd wettest place on earth (although sounds like the UK might be catching up) but we have been very lucky to avoid most of the year's rain.
The wildlife was out and about with plenty of seals on the rocks as well as a extremely rare penguin!
Without the usual rainfall some of the waterfalls were fairly weak but the sunlight created fantastic rainbows through the spray.
As the boat nosedived into Sterling Falls (not a weak flowing waterfall) many of the tourists got a shower, standing inside behind the glass, their spray jackets glowed in our photos.
After the boat trip we took Justin back up to Key Summit (part of the Routeburn Track) to admire the views. Very different from the snow topped peaks we had three weeks ago, but still a wonderful sight.
It was a good warm up for the next day, the start of the 68km Kepler Track - our penultimate Great Walk!
