Up at sunrise to walk around the beautiful Lake Matheson. Recently listed on the BBC as one of the World's top six beautiful lakes. The mountains in the background are Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman, NZ's two highest peaks.
The mirror-like reflection was quite something.
Following our day on the Glacier, we had hoped to watch the sun set over the lake; the weather had other ideas however, and clouded over. Or so we thought...
... a quick dash, and we were just in time for the clouds to start clearing over the mountains.
The full glory of a sun kissed mountain never quite materialised, but it was a lovely way to end the day.
The following day before a long drive to Wanaka, we walked off our breakfast to get one last lake view. Once again the clouds never gave us the perfect reflection; we still considered ourselves lucky to have nearly glimpsed the peaks in the morning light.
It's a beautiful spot though and you've got some lovely photos. The trees surrounding the lake always seem to keep the wind off it so the reflections are lovely.
