It's official! Jasper is our favourite place in Canada, and we have downgraded yesterday's hike to second place following the awesome views of today! We have had 3 back to back stunning days and the walk today has been a fantastic end to our exploration of the Rockies.
Today's walk had it all: mountains as far as you could see (and you could see a long way), hanging glaciers, water falling into a lake complete with icebergs, alpine meadows, wild flowers, wildlife, beautiful sunshine and as always great company! This is the life :)
We stood spellbound on the same platform you two are on looking over Spirit Island - except, at the age of 4 months, you were in my arms! The pictures are great but can never do justice to a landscape like that.
ReplyDeleteI note the beauty is even adding a poetic cadence to your blogspot reports! I think the Rockies does that to you! Looks like you've had some great walks and some very good weather.
All our love

I can't believe your time in Canada has come to an end. All that planning was definitely worth while though. It sounds as though you've had an awesome time from beginning to end.
ReplyDeleteMost of the places you've been have been so similar to what we did when you were young - you've just had the chance to extend them very significantly.
The Canadian Rockies though are stunning - you've renewed Mum and my intention to go back again before we get too old and decrepit to go exploring again. You'll find their sheer majesty and scale hard to beat anywhere in the world but the Cook Islands are going to be a totally different type of experience - soft gentle and relaxed with very friendly people and the watery expanse of the Ocean.
I hope the journey back to Vancouver has gone / is going okay and that there are no hitches in your onward travel (do you need to confirm your flights beforehand?). I'm looking forward to the next update from the tropical Pacific!
Lots of love

ReplyDeleteDid many people in the Rockies mistake Dave for a Yeti?
