Sunrise to Sunset

An early start in Napier: we sat on top of Te Mata Peak at 6.21am to be the first in the world to see in the new day. What a start it was!




After a chilled out morning we travelled 2 hours north to Lake Taupo, the huge crater of a super volcano now filled with fresh water. It is one of the most breathtaking spots we've visited with the awesome snow-capped  domes of Mt. Ruapehu,  Mt Ngauruhoe (Mt Doom) and Mt Tongariro right across the lake. We are freedom camping (camping for free) opposite and this was our view from the van for the night! :-)
